Moby Dick

History of Moby Dick Husky Dane 85 No. 27

Moby Dick

Built on Baess Tue Boats Ladder DK 1977 where it will in any year remained.

Purchased 1979 by Mr. Borggräfe from Wyk auf Föhr, who used it as a floating summer home among the East Frisian islands in the years 1979-2005.

Of left-over paper, and well-stocked spare parts kit is clear that Mr. Borggräfe was a pedantic and förutseeende person.

Bought by a family Pettersson on Tjörn 2005? who carried out some major improvements. For eg boat was fitted with a new jetty and electric windlass. Swim platform were purchased from the Danish shipyard (were optional for the new boats which then became a Husky Dane 900) and it forms an integral part of the boat and is an extension of the boat's waterline by about 70 cm.

Was purchased 2009, av mig Sven-Olof Carlberg, as my senior project, with the intent to ensure that this classic boat regains its former glory.. I'm not the target even, but some major works have been implemented:

  • The miracle-diesel tanks of mild steel is now replaced with Vetus plastic tanks 2 * 137L and the boat has had new fuel supply
  • Rear cockpit and wheelhouse has consistently renovated and akterhyttens terrible shoddy wall carpet has been replaced and the wheelhouse has been a change in dinette with double refrigerators. Additionally, all roof and wall surfaces redecorated. Husky Dane's a solid building with a fairly thick teak veneer that can withstand a lot of renovation work.
  • Extended battery bank and two photovoltaic tot.150W (one of förruffens roof and one on the Flybridge pulpit)
  • New and improved navigation- and communications equipment

Home port is now Vadstena in the history castle and work with Boby Dick progresses…

Unfortunately I have no idea where to get hold of them railing fittings which I believe was originally fitted on Moby Dick. Certainly both attractive and unusually solid stuff in cast and anodized aluminum, seems to be the next professional quality for professional maritime
